Fatherhood FridayFatherhood Friday is both a day and a growing community of dads and moms sharing stories, ideas, photos and movies with one topic in mind - fatherhood. In a world that seems happy to deliver a message that dads are incapable buffoons, Dad Blogs is committed to changing that perception. The reality is, as we see it, parents today are more aware of parenting and the impact it has on their children and dads everywhere are becoming more active caregivers. If you don't believe me--check out the posts in our archives.

Fatherhood Friday

First--a disclaimer: Fellas, we are looking for Dad Bloggers to take part in the "Search for the Greenest Dad." Not only is $100 from Amazon.com on the line and a really cool title, but free product too. Also, by stepping up and joining the competition, there will inevitably be more as the power of the dad blogger is revealed to all.

Friday already?! Summer is really making the time fly by. I really need to do something more productive with my time than play Super Mario Galaxy 2 and get in the pool...on second thought, no I don't. Anyways, yeah--Fatherhood Friday is here!

The theme for the next few weeks is "Summer." Remember, themes are optional, but fun. So, don't stress if you aren't on theme--just keep it real.

Fatherhood Friday (FF) Rules of Engagement

Make sure that you link to Dad Blogs in your FF posts, also--when you post your link here at DB, make sure your link points to your Fatherhood Friday post--not your blog's homepage. Make it easy for people to find your Fatherhood Friday contribution. Tweet #FatherhoodFriday as often as you can and visit & comment other FF posts with vim and vigor.

So, get your links up and be good stewards of Fatherhood Friday.

Here's what you do when you are a part of Fatherhood Friday, if you don't know already. Our easy to follow guidelines:
  1. Do post a Dad Blogs badge on your blog and watch your popularity grow exponentially
  2. Do link to awesome posts on your blog (link directly to the post, not the homepage)
  3. Do link back to Dad Blogs and Fatherhood Friday
  4. Do not link to something unrelated like shrubberies
  5. Do visit as many other contributors as possible
  6. Do tweet about your post and add the hashtag "#FatherhoodFriday" to the end of the tweet
    * Are you a Twitter Dad? Add your Twitter ID and link to the list.
  7. Do subscribe to the new Dad Blogs feed

Remember, dads AND moms can participate just post your links below.

Happy Fatherhood Friday and welcome to summer! On the day I gear up for J's "graduation" ceremony from the ladybug to green frog pre-school classroom, and then pile into the car with him and scout the dog for a 1048 mile road trip, a www.dadtoday.com reflection on a lasting memory of one of my greatest ever road trips with my dad - by bike across the USA. (the piece also a rough cut of a first semi-regular column I'll have on the new Good Men Project magazine).

Some scheduled posts, but otherwise silence next week while we're chilling at Lake Rabun, GA...

Hello everyone. This week, I've written about how much I like guys named Jim/Jimmy/James and how three guys with that name (including my son) really brightened up my day on Wednesday.

In addition, the entry is also summer-related!

Enjoy your weekend!

Sweating out a potential problem with the ultrasound this morning. Which got me thinking "What if something is wrong with this baby?"

Hey Guys and Gals! A very happy FF to you all! Sorry we missed last week, we were in the great wilds of Michigan treating ourselves to a Father's Day weekend away camping with some buds. We got some much needed down time, the Grandparents (conveniently close to where we camp!) got some much needed grand kid time.
There are actually two new posts since last week. One on the Kid's College I am working on this week with a group of 12 year olds and one on Michigan's smoking ban. Check them both out please!

Happy FF, everyone. For this Fatherhood Friday, I mention a little parental pride gone wild, and I also talk about how a bloggy dad we all know, Always Home and Uncool, is pure evil. The epitome of bad.

Today's a bit bleak, what with the cops and the army taking over our city. Have fun with a weekend in a Police State!

Decided to continue my review-oriented posts and created one about a very annoying toy. How do these toy manufacturers not put adequate volume controls on these toys? One-level of sound, is not acceptable!
